I will always remember
the time that me and my best friend went hiking the West Coast trail and caught
a couple of Salmon then we both turn around and saw two bears looking at us and
slowly moving toward us! We then gave the fish to the bears and quickly cross
the creek and off in the woods to get away from our teddy bear fish thief’s lol
In 2005 I moved back
to the Maritimes provinces where I settle in to my new home in Upper Tantallon.
I then stopped fishing for 4 year due to being deployed 90 percent of the time with
Canadian Navy. The next year I started Smallmouth fishing and Trout fish in lakes around
the Halifax area. It was also around this time frame that I joined the forum
CKA where I met John Gigbson a good friend of mine which introduced me to Kayak
fishing. A few weeks later after talking to John I went and purchased my first
Kayak. I now presently owned two Kayak an Ocean Trident 13 and a Hobie
Revolution 13. I personally prefer my Trident 13 Kayak for fishing because I believe
it’s the best all-around fishing Kayak and it’s the first kayak that I have learned
to kayak fish from.
A few months ago I started to fish the Atlantic ocean inside coves for Mackerel and Poluck. I know find saltwater fishing just has much fun as fresh water fishing.

I also love taking my
10 year old son with me on my Trident 13 fishing as often as I can. Nothing
more fun than spending quality time on the water kayak fishing with my son Ryan
and this is how real memories are made from.
The BBQ side of me
started about 16 years ago when I got my first BBQ and my passion for BBQing as
grown real fast from there. I am also the owner and author of Papa Shawn's Creative BBQ that has lots of traffic. I always loved trying to cook new stuff
on a limb on the grill and to share all my recipes and tips with my readers and
followers.
I decided to start
this blog to introduce everyone to the two biggest passion of mine Kayak
Fishing and Grilling. I try to meet as many people as possible on the water and
constantly try to introduce as many people as possible to the sport of fishing and to the
art of grilling.
My future goals are to
become a Fishing Pro Staff and a sponsored fisherman and I am also in the planning
stage to start a non-profit learn to fish for youths in my Tantallon community next
spring.
I am presently a
member of the Kayak Fishing Chef team. I loved competing to meet
new kayak fisherman and to learn from the other fisherman. Plus I am currently a global moderator at the new fishing forum Halifax Fishing under the user name Protecteur.
